All lectures were presented flawlessly and the panels were extremely useful and informative. I hope to take another class with this professor in the future.” • “He puts in a lot of effort and wants his students to succeed. He makes class very interesting and enjoyable, by breaking it down into simpler concepts and the formatting of his power-points. His class is very interactive and encourages discussion, which I enjoy. One of the best professors I've had so far at UCI.” • "Professor Simpson is outstanding. His class is fair, challenging, and engaging. Professor Simpson truly goes beyond his duties to make the class engaging for his students. By far the most engaging course I have taken throughout my three years at UCI.” • “In my two years at UCI, I have never enjoyed a class as much as I did this one. Not only were the topics and panels of interest to me, but Professor Simpson's teaching style made me want to attend lectures. I truly believe that he was born to teach. He always came to class very prepared and lectured effortlessly to the class. He has to be the most well-spoken professor at UCI. The only critique I could possibly give was that the midterm and final paper were almost too easy. I feel like the exams should have pulled more from the readings or a few finer points from lectures.” • “I took this course initially because it fulfi lled a major requirement and because it t decently into my schedule, and I firmly believe that this has been hands down, the best course I have ever taken. Rylan is extremely relateable, and uses this to connect with his students in a way that I feel most professors struggle with. He created an excellent parallel between academic, lecture learning and actual real world application through the use of various panels, which not only provided insight into the course material in action but also provided students who aspire to join this eld a networking opportunity. This class has been a complete joy, and I would highly recommend it to any and all students. For one, he actually cares about the subject. So much so, that unlike any other academician I've met yet, he's also a practitioner in his eld. This brings valuable experience and authority to class. He also has an excellent personality and style of teaching. Speaks very clearly and measuredly. Grades fairly. Encourages participation and entertains questions and concerns. Engages with ideas critically and in uncommon ways. And best of all, he's assembled a course where every lesson matters. There's no fi ller material; that is eliminated by having several excellent, excellent panels incorporating appearances from an international set of police practitioners. I mean, it doesn't get better than this. The course is just amazing and anyone who takes it is guaranteed to have very fond memories of it. There was only one class I felt was worth commuting 90 miles two days a week for, and this was it.” |
